CHOIR REHEARSALS (only November through April) are each Sunday at 9:00 AM

During the winter season with so many of our winter residents present we seek to have a choir with regular rehearsals. The new choir began on January 4, 2010 and rehearses Sunday mornings at 9:00 AM. May through October we try to have other special music each Sunday. Come and share your musical talent with us.

BIBLE STUDY

The Bible Study group meets Wednesday evenings at 7:00 PM. The topic  an "Invitation to John" began at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, January 13, 2010. If you would like to attend, please advise Pastor Sue.

The Council has established a new Building Fund to provide for modifications in the chancel and other needs of the church building. Renovations of the rest rooms to make them handicap accessable have been completed, and changes to the air conditioning system to improve performance and efficiency are finished. Construction of bannisters and hand railings in the pulpit area has been completed.

The next major project, the painting of the church, which cost about $6,000.00 has been completed. Donations to the Painting Fund, currently at $768.00, are encouraged and would be most welcome.

As part of its outreach program, the church is accumulating boxes containing a two day emergency food supply for a family of four. A flyer describing the program and a list of the food to be contained is on a table in the Fellowship Hall beside an example of such a box. The boxes will be stored in the Pastor's office to be available for donation to needy families as the occasion arises. You are asked to pick up a flyer and a box, and as circumstances permit, fill the box and return it to the Fellowship Hall. The need has recently increased, so your donations are urgently sought.

We are now collecting items forr the shoe boxes which we prepare for the Peace River Center for Women. A couple dozen boxes are normally prepared and delivered to the Center before Christmas. A list of needed items is on the table at the back of the Sanctuary.

Our Cluster of Churches..

Our Cluster churches include Lena Vista UMC, First UMC in Auburndale, and Winter Haven Trinity UMC.  The pastors and lay representatives from each church meet regularly to study and plan together.  The three churches also have joint fellowship dinners and music nights once each quarter.  The purpose of the cluster is for cooperation and support in ministry.  

RECENT UPDATES ON FACILITIES...

*  Remodeled the church office/pastor's study area.

*   Replaced the fence and gates with more aesthetically pleasing material, thanks to contributions of a number of members & friends. See our pictures page.

*   Replaced the carpeting in the sanctuary and in the hallway in the Fellowship Hall, again thanks to contributions from a number of members & friends.

*   Remodeled Rest Rooms to make them handicapped accessible.

*   Renovated the air conditioning system to improve control in the Fellowship Hall.

*   Installed banisters and hand rails in the chancel area.
